Frequently Asked Questions

How long does therapy last?

Each session lasts fifty minutes and takes place at the same time each week. The length of the therapy process itself varies according to the individual needs of the client. For some this might mean a limited number of sessions, agreed upon in our initial consultation. This might suit people who are coming with a specific issue of a recent nature, who are looking for time-limited, focused counselling. Others may have difficulties that have troubled them for some time and can be helped with longer-term psychotherapy. It is long-term, regular sessions that provide the possibility for working on a deeper level to bring about long-lasting change.

Do you offer online sessions?

Our therapists offer online sessions. We have completed appropriate training in the ethics and practicalities of working with clients in this manner and follow BACP guidelines.

Will our sessions be confidential?

We remain bound by the ethical code of confidentiality enforced by the BACP. Anything you share is treated with the strictest confidentiality and we take relevant data protection steps to protect your privacy.

What are the first steps?

When you contact us, you can provide as much or as little information as you choose.  Iā€™m nervous about starting therapy, is that normal?

If this is your first experience with therapy, the uncertainty around what to expect can feel daunting. Even if it is not your first experience, It can be scary to think about opening up about your fears and troubles. Perhaps you might fear that therapy will be awkward, uncomfortable and make you feel vulnerable. It is normal and understandable to feel this way. When you get in touch with us (and during your sessions too), you can tell us how you are feeling about therapy. Together we can consider why you are feeling in a particular way and how to make your sessions as comfortable and effective as possible. It takes courage to start therapy and the fact that you are on this website means you are probably ready for it.
